How Vutto Scaled Used Bike Payments With Mysa

Buying a used bike looks simple from the outside. Someone has a bike, someone has cash, and they meet. At Vutto, one bike can trigger up to seven separate payments, and until recently the founders made every one of them themselves.

I was there when the Vutto team walked us through how that actually works. It is one of the clearest pictures I have seen of what finance looks like when volume grows faster than process.

Why used bikes are still an offline market

India sold about 2.14 crore new two-wheelers in FY26, a record year. The used side of that market sits right next to it, and almost all of it still happens offline.

Rohit Khurana, Co-founder of Vutto, started from a simple question. If we buy biscuits, cake and bread online, will we still be buying bikes offline a decade from now?

"India sells about 2 crore bikes and about 1 crore used bikes. That's 3 crore bikes, fully offline." by Rohit Khurana, Co-founder, Vutto

"Trust is really broken in used bikes. 99% of used two-wheelers are being sold in unorganised, some mom-and-pop setups next to a mechanic." by Rohit Khurana, Co-founder, Vutto

That is the gap Vutto set out to fix. It is also what creates the finance problem. Vutto buys bikes directly from sellers, which means it is solving instant liquidity for them. Vutto puts in its own money, on the spot.

"Every buying decision is a huge-ticket item of, say, ₹45,000 to ₹50,000, right? So, for every big transaction we do, we need to have some checks and balances in place." ~ Dhruva Gupta, founder's office, Vutto

One bike, up to seven payments

Most people assume a bike purchase means paying the seller. For Vutto, the seller is only part of it. A single bike needs three to seven payments, and two of them go to the person selling it.

Area Before Mysa With Mysa
Who makes payments Founders made every payment themselves Payments run on Mysa, with founders keeping control of the account
Founder time Around three hours every couple of days spent on payments Founders back to running the business
Visibility Payments for one bike spread across many payees Every payment for a bike visible under one procurement ID
Audit Audit meant piecing things together Visible on the platform and downloadable for audit

The vendor payments here do not look like a normal invoice cycle. There is no purchase order sitting in a queue and no vendor emailing a PDF.

"A lot of these transactions don't necessarily have receipts because they happen in such bulk volumes, given the kind of trade we're in. Not everything can be documented in a very clear way. We can't get an email, we can't get all the details, and time is especially sensitive. It always has to be done immediately." ~ Rochan Mohapatra, founder's office, Vutto

How Mysa's Team Got Into the Process

Before any of this was configured, our team spent time on calls with Vutto's team to understand how procurement actually works for them. I was on those calls along with Mohit Jain and Mohit Rangaraju, our Head of Product. Vutto's process is not a standard invoice-to-payment flow, so we did not try to fit it into one.

"Especially Mohit R., who went into the flow. He sort of understood our flow better than I had at that point. And because of those conversations, I also realised how our process works and how to streamline it." Vutto founder's office

In the early days, at roughly 100 to 150 bikes, the founders made every payment themselves.

I've seen us go from 100 bikes to now seeing 800. And if the founders were still doing the payments, their  job would be payment approvers." ~ Rochan Mohapatra, founder's office, Vutto

Rohit did not want to spend three hours every couple of days just doing payments. So they went looking for a payment solution that could carry the load without taking control away from the founders. Once the flow was mapped, payments moved onto Mysa. Founders keep control of the account without being the ones making every payment.

Here is what changed in practice. Every bike gets a procurement ID, and everything paid against that bike sits under it.

"As soon as we select a procurement ID, we're able to see payment 1, payment 2, challans, auction payment, and five other things. So it's very easy to reconcile. It's visible on the Mysa platform. We can, of course, download it and audit it later."~ Rochan Mohapatra, founder's office, Vutto

That is accounts payable reconciliation organised around the thing Vutto actually cares about, the bike, and not around a vendor list. As volume grows, auditability matters more, and each payment now has a clear audit trail behind it.

Software only gets you part of the way in a business like this. Payments do not wait for office hours.

'We'll do it tomorrow,' is not an option for operations. It's important for our business. For us, that's an important note, without which the business would not survive." ~ Dhruva Gupta, founder's office, Vutto

They also mentioned the working sessions with Mohit Rangaraju, our Head of Product, who went into their flow in detail, and how the success team has always been prompt in delivering promises punctually.

What Vutto wants next

Because the data now sits in one place, the team has started giving it to Claude and asking for analysis.

"It gives some quite interesting insights that we wouldn't have seen because we weren't asking those questions."~ Rochan Mohapatra, founder's office, Vutto

They would like Mysa to connect with the tools the marketing side already uses, such as Ahrefs, Google Ads and Meta Ads, the way MCPs connect those tools to AI assistants today. Then the finance team would not need to chase marketing for context.

What this means for finance teams

If your payments look like Vutto's, a few things are worth doing early. Decide who can approve what before volume forces the question. Group every payment tied to one transaction under a single reference, so reconciliation starts from the deal and not from the bank statement. And keep a record even when the receipt never arrives, because the audit will still ask.

Vutto's setup rests on payment automation with the founders still in control of the account. If you want the same for your own vendor payments, here is how Mysa handles accounts payable and integrated banking.
