Overview
India already makes some of the most beautiful home decor products in the world. Half the bedding sold in North America every year is manufactured here. But inside India, finding curated, premium-quality home products at reasonable prices was surprisingly hard - everyone's taste is different, and access to that kind of curation just didn't exist. That gap is why Vaaree was born: a curated vertical commerce destination for all things home.
For Vaaree, finance was never an afterthought. From the first year of inception, the company partnered with a Big Four firm for audit. One of their first senior hires was a finance controller. And very early in their journey, they stressed on having good controls in place.
The Challenge
No Single Source of Truth for Bill History
Before Mysa, tracking a bill's full journey - when it came in, what the statement said, who did what and when - meant going to Tally and piecing it together manually. There was no unified timeline anyone could pull up in one place.
Manual Bank and GST Verification
Verifying vendor bank accounts and GSTs was a manual, one-by-one process. The team could realistically get through 10 or 20 verifications at a time - a hard ceiling on how fast finance could move as the vendor base grew.
Bank Uploads With No Live Visibility
Bulk payment files uploaded directly through banking portals came with a rigid format and zero visibility mid-upload. If 300-400 transactions went up in a batch and something in the file was wrong or duplicated, there was no way to catch it live - the entire file had to be reprocessed from scratch.
Bounced Payments From Unsearchable Accounts
Even when a vendor's bank account was correctly verified on file, some banks have limitations on name-search at the time of processing. This meant payments could still bounce back post-verification simply because the account wasn't active or searchable - a failure mode with no early warning.
The Solution: A Single System for Bills, Banking, and Verification
Bank Entries and Statements, Fully Automated
Once bank accounts are integrated, every entry flows through automatically - no manual payment entries, no manual passing entries. Statements flow directly into Mysa too. Compared to a standard bank bulk-upload format, where uploads are opaque until the whole file processes, Mysa shows live progress. If there's a mistake or a duplicate, Mysa flags it automatically, and it can be removed post-upload without redoing the entire batch.
"In Mysa, all the bank entries, once integrated, are gone - no manual payments, no manual passing entries." ~ Ravi Kiran, Finance Controller, Vaaree
Complete Bill Timeline in One Place
With Mysa, Vaaree gets a full history of every bill - the statement, when it was uploaded, what happened to it, and when. Alongside Tally, this is now the only other place the team needs to look for that complete picture, and it makes the entire audit trail traceable in a way it never was before.
Automation of Bank and GST Verifications
GST and bank account verification now happens as a flow inside Mysa itself, verified upfront rather than checked manually one at a time. What used to cap out at 10-20 manual checks now runs as a continuous, automated part of the process - with the checks happening in the finance view itself.
Full Visibility Into Every Bill
For every single bill, Vaaree's finance team can see the complete timeline: who approved it, when it was uploaded, when it was authorized. Duplicate bills get caught automatically. Purchase orders can be allocated directly against bills, so when a vendor sends one in, it flows straight into Mysa as part of the process.
"The flow is good. For the first time we are seeing the entire bill timeline, like the history of all the bills, the statement, when and all, what all they did." ~ Ravi Kiran, Finance Controller, Vaaree
Context at the Point of Approval
While authorizing payments, Vaaree's team relies on comments attached to each transaction - flagging partial payments, advance payments, and other exceptions. That context simply doesn't exist in a standard bank upload flow, where the only option is going vendor-by-vendor to manually check payment status.
Proactive Support When Payments Bounce
When a payment failed due to an unsearchable, inactive bank account despite prior verification, Mysa's support team caught and resolved the issue directly - without Vaaree's team having to escalate to the bank themselves. The team describes Mysa's support as proactive by default, often identifying and solving issues before they're raised.
"The support team is proactive. In the majority of cases, they only come up and solve these issues" ~ Ravi Kiran, Finance Controller, Vaaree
Looking Forward
Vaaree is looking to go deeper with Mysa's AI capabilities - starting with Milo, Mysa's AI assistant, which the team has already started using and wants to lean into further.
On the roadmap: dashboards and summaries built on statutory compliance - GST, TDS - and broader KPI metrics, all sourced directly from the bills already flowing through Mysa. The goal is what-if scenario planning: budgets allocated per vendor or expense type, and clear visibility into how much can be paid to each partner, all from a single dashboard.
